Leumas asked:

where do you draw the line?
if a baby is born with a cleft lip/pallet is it frowned upon to have it fixed?
what about a young woman who wants to have breast augmentation to help boost her confidence?
what if the cleft lip baby has it fixed, but the final stages must be completed in adulthood (say their nose/upper lip is slightly deformed still)… should the person have it fixed to complete the process?

In fact, when it comes to creating breasts or enhancing breast size implants are really the most popular choice for women. As with all medical procedures, there are many things to think about when choosing to having breast augmentation cosmetic surgery. Listed below are a few  things you should know about breast augmentation | breast enlargement.

1. Breast Augmentation Risks – Before having breast augmentation you should consider all the risks. There can be many different complications that can occur from having a breast implant. One risk to consider is the affects that different types of anesthesia can have on people.  Infection is another complication that can occur to one or more of the incision around or within the implant itself causing problems with healing.  Scar tissue forming around the implant can make your new breasts feel hard and uncomfortable. Lastly but one of the more serious breast augmentations risks is if one or more of your breast implants ruptures.

2. Different Types Of Breast Implants – In the past silicone implant were the most popular because of there natural look and feel. Today due to health risks silicone breast implants are far less commonly used these days. The reason for less women choosing silicone breast implant today is numerous studies have been conducted regarding health issues caused by the rupture of silicone implants.  Some scientists believe that certain autoimmune or neurological diseases can occur in women  if a silicone breast implant ruptures and leakage occurs. Another scientist   say that  no valid evidence exist to prove that silicone breast implants pose anymore danger than other types of breast implants.

The most popular type of breast implant is saline type implants. Most people believe saline implants are safer if an accidental rupture occurs. The the main ingredients making up these implants is saline and water which can be easily absorbed by the body in the case of rupture.  Saline implants feel much  firmer than their silicone counterparts and with saline breast implants  there are more options shape and size.  Some  saline breast  implants offer tiny valves where cosmetic surgeons can add or remove additional saline to adjust the size and shape of the breast. This option allows you to make adjustments to your breast for up to six months after your surgery at a outpatient clinic.

3. Where To Place Your Breast Implant– Different ways of placing  the breast implant in your body can create different effects and comfort levels.   Placement of your breast implant should be decided by you and your doctor and knowing  your options is something you can decide once your cosmetic surgeon evaluates you and your body type. Your surgeon will be able to tell you what method of placement would be most beneficial to you.  There are basically two ways to place the breast implant in your chest. One method is to  put the implant between the muscle of the chest and the breast tissue.  The primary benefit to this type of placement is less pain and a shorter recovery time however, the  implants may be seen through your skin and mammograms can be difficult to conduct. The  other method of placement is putting the breast implant behind the chest muscle.  The primary benefit to this type placement is there is less risk for complications and infection. Also mammograms are easier to conduct. The setback to this type of breast implant is recovery times are much longer.

4. How To Choose  A Cosmetic Surgeon –  Always remember breast augmentation last forever make sure you do your research when choosing a cosmetic surgeon.   You need to be comfortable and confident that the surgeon you choose can deliver what you expect.   Ask around talk to friends, neighbors or family members who have had cosmetic surgery. Find out what they liked and disliked about their surgeon and ask them if the would recommend that surgeon.  Get several opinions and compare what each surgeon tells you. Decide on two or three surgeons and check out their credentials, complaints or other information through your local medical board.

Breast implants and breast augmentation cosmetic surgery  should not be taken lightly. You will have to live with the consequences doing or not doing your research before having breast augmentation.  Consider the above steps and make a informed decision about your future.
